JOSHUA'S STORY
As a Pennsylvania licensed Spanish teacher turned Physical Therapist Assistant, I have extensive experience teaching foreign languages, and using Spanish in the Physical Therapy Setting.
I know the difficulties of learning a foreign language (especially if you are a beginner), and I understand how frustrating it can be to try to learn a foreign language. This is especially true when the majority of what you're learning doesn't apply to your real world experience and needs.
(Think, "The red bird reads books in the library," is much less applicable than "Please sit and stand 5 times from the chair")
If you work in Physical or Occupational Therapy, I hope you'll explore the courses and resources offered here. Learn Spanish skills that are directly related to your field and experience. You want an educator who has the experience and knowledge to effectively teach Spanish communication skills, as well as an educator who knows precisely what your needs are as a PT, PTA, OT, or COTA!
FROM SPAIN, TO THE USA CLASSROOM,
TO HEALTHCARE
When I first learned Spanish, I did not know that I would one day be working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, using Spanish with my patients on a daily basis!
Upon graduating from my university, I found an opportunity to live and work in Spain in the Spanish school system. Through this experience living in Madrid, Barcelona, and Málaga, I gained the rare opportunity to experience Spanish authentically, rather than only in a classroom. I fell in love with the Spanish language and culture specifically, as well as the many other cultures that speak the Spanish language!
I bring this joy and authenticity from my years of living abroad, as well as my professional skills as both a licensed Spanish teacher, and as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, into my classes and courses!
I look forward to working with you to help make Spanish accessible to you! Let's find the best way to open new opportunities within your work as a PT, PTA, OT, or COTA, and let's start moving towards communicating directly with your Spanish speaking patients today!
